MISSION STATEMENT: The main reason I started my website was to show the world how great our American Troops were and that they are human beings and have families just like everyone else.
The media seems to always make our troops look like the bad guys, and that is definitely not true! Our troops deserve to be Honored, Respected, and Supported!
I decided to create a Nationwide Adopt a Soldier Program to send out care packages to our troops and to bring some home back to them on their deployments.
My first year ,in 2004, I sent out almost 700 care packages for the Christmas Season. Since then I have personally sent out almost 2000 care packages.
Our troops will continue to need our support! If you would like to adopt a soldier or if you know a soldier/troop that is deployed, please email me their address.
Please put "Adopt a Troop" as the subject and email me(Steve) at: HonoringTroops@aol.com

GOAL: To bring some home to our deployed troops to make their deployments go smoother and to show them that they are appreciated for the sacrifices they are making for our FREEDOM!

CARE PACKAGE ITEMS:
My care packages usually cost about $25.00 and this includes shipping and handling. I mix it up with some of the items but for the most part i try to keep it consistent. For example here is what will be going in this month's deliveries:
1 bag of lifesaver mints 1 bag of Organo Gold Coffee (Healthy Coffee for our troops) 1 pack of sunflower seeds 1 pack of beef jerky 1 pair of socks 1 set of dominos 1 packof baby wipes 1 container of dry roasted peanuts 1 set of uno cards 1 mini oreo go packs 1 stick of deodorant 1 bag of strawberry candies 1 of Chef Boyardee Beef Ravioli 1 bottle of baby powder 1 4 pack of trident gum 1 Home-made wash cloth 1 Sports Magazine 1 stuffed animal(usually they give this to a lil kid over there) 1 travel set of texas hold'em(80 chips, deck of cards, +dealer chip) Letters depending on how many i have, sometimes 5-10
Sometimes i will personalize it with a different candy(skittles or star burst) if a certian candy or snack is requested

ADOPT A TROOP:
I get a lot of people who contact me and want to adopt a troop. This is great and I appreciate everyone who wants to help support our troops! If you or your organization, co-workers, schools, or just a group of friends would like to adopt a troop then please email me:Please put "Adopt a Troop" as the subject and email me(Steve) at: HonoringTroops@aol.com

SPONSOR A PACKAGE:
I also get a lot of individuals, groups, and organizations that want to sponsor a package(s) but do not want to do the packing, filling out customs forms, and shipping the packages. That is fine and I have created a new program where people can "Sponsor a Care Package". You pay for the package and I send out a package(s) with a letter that states that the care package was sponsored by you or your organization and I also put your return address in the care package so that you can get correspondence from our troops you helped to sponsor! If you want to do an anonymous sponsor I can put that also.
On average a care package costs $25(S&H included). If you would like to be a sponsor then you can send a letter with your return address and a check or money order made payable to "Honoring American Troops" to: Honoring American Troops 3 Highland Avenue Walden, NY 12586

A Very Honored and Decorated Special Forces Soldier asked me to mention this in my site: "In the past couple of years the military has taken huge steps forward in pay and other areas. Remind your readers that in order for soldiers to receive what they rightly deserve (increased pay, educational benefits, better housing ect.) then they need to speak to their elected officials. I would also encourage these same people to vote. No one has the right to criticize their elected officials unless they themselves exercise the benefits these soldiers are sacrificing for and vote."
